“420 fest”

To the tune of “Five o’clock world” by the Vogues

Slam shut the textbooks when the schoolday ends,
I rush to make the Commons to be with my friends.
All day pretending I’m spaghetti-spined—
Got to scrub that shit out of my mind.

’Cause there’s a 4:20 fest every day in Keene!
   People being peaceful and free,
Blazoning defiance of the State’s machine.
Laws don’t mean a thing to me.
      420, yeah…

Taught nothing but to follow and obey,
Preparing us for much more of the same some day.
Well, in my life, I’ve learned, serving’s not the point—
Give me a hit off that joint, oh, yeah!

’Cause there’s a 4:20 fest every day in Keene!
   People being peaceful and free.
I get a 4:20 feeling and my life’s serene—
This is how the world should be.
      420, yeah…

I’m protected by the trees and surrounding smoke,
But more so by the presence of like-minded folk.
There’s strength and safety in that camaraderie
Of people who love liberty.

In that 4:20 fest there’s a harmony
Greater than the sum of our parts,
And we exult in the euphoria of being free
In our souls and minds and hearts.
      420, yeah…
